ABOUT US
What's the Garden Club?
Well, pretty much what you’d imagine. The Club is here for anyone who is interested in gardening or growing of any kind. It’s for beginners or experts, people old and young. Doesn’t matter if your garden is large or small, or whether you like producing flowers, veg or both. Or whether you live in or out of Barcombe parish.
So. Do you like sociable talks from knowlegeable speakers; flower shows; visits, garden parties? Or maybe just taking tea and cakes (with or without a glass of wine) with like-minded others? Either way, Barcombe Garden Club is for you. Come along and see what goes on – our current programme is below. You’ll be made most welcome!
One tree, two branches
How do the Garden Club and Flower Show fit together? It’s a matter of history. The Garden Club has been around in one form or another for three decades, while the Flower Show started in 2007. The two merged back in 2023, a change which made good sense for economic and practical reasons. Now our two Flower Shows, one in Spring, one in Autumn, are major events in the Garden Club’s busy calendar. The other big annual event is our whopping Plant Sale, held every spring. There you can buy seedlings and more mature plants, ornamental and edible, to grow on. Almost all items are produced by club members in their own greenhouses, polytunnels – and window ledges!
